BACKCOUNTRY WADE TRIPS

Imagine…

Fly fishing for Trout in a temperate mountain rain forest with wildflowers blooming everywhere and waterfalls roaring off in the distance.

Exploring a high elevation cascading plunge pool stream for wild Southern Appalachian Brook Trout.

Wetting a line in a moderate freestone stream for feisty Rainbow Trout amidst mountain laurels and rhododendrons.

Stalking aggressive Brown Trout in a peaceful meandering river surrounded by brilliant fall colors...

and casting beautiful Southern Appalachian fly patterns to hungry Trout.

These experiences are waiting for you in the backcountry on Western North Carolina's mountain trout streams.

Most backcountry fly fishing trips consist of a hike in of about one or two miles, fishing up the river about a mile then hiking back out at the end of the day.

The gradient of the trails is quite reasonable for most anglers and you will venture into some of the more remote areas of the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests as well as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

We will pack in a nice lunch for you for a mid-day break and it is quite possible that you may not see another person the whole day!

We love to take people into the backcountry to fly fish for wild and native trout as we enjoy seeing them reconnecting with nature and awestruck by the beauty surrounding them.
